Prepaid or Plan
One of the most important questions that you need to ask yourself if you are planning to get a cell phone is whether you will get a prepaid cell phone or you will subscribe to a plan. This is a crucial choice. You don't want to get stuck with a plan that comes with a poor service. On the other hand, getting a plan holds plenty of benefits over buying a prepaid cell phone. One of the things that you need to ask yourself to help you make a decision is how often will you be using your cell phone. If you are a heavy user, then you are better off getting a plan. It will save you money in the long run.
Can you afford it?
Of course, everyone wants to get the latest cell phone out there. But the question is, can you afford it? Maybe you can but will you be broke afterward? Before you go shopping for a cell phone, it is a good idea to have a budget and to commit yourself to stick to it no matter what. Otherwise, it would be easy for you to get tempted on the latest gizmo in the market. Do you really need a very powerful phone that can run 10 apps at the same time? Do you really need a phone that you can use underwater? You should look at a cell phone as a tool for communication and not a fashion accessory or a toy to avoid overspending.
Reliability
There are many cheap cell phones coming out lately from different start up companies. What you will notice is that they are offering cell phones at a much lower price than their more established counterparts. It is very tempting to buy these cell phones because they are significantly cheaper than known brands. But when it comes to buying a cell phone, you should look at reliability above everything else. You need a cell phone that is working and not one that would bug down at the slightest provocation. Getting a more expensive but more reliable brand will save you more money in the long run than getting a cheap phone that would need regular repair.
